And So The Serpent Speaks

The serpent moved its way up as it tightened around a vine.
He saw the woman in the distance and with vengeance said, "She'll be mine."

It waited patiently there until she got close to that forbidden tree.
"Did God say that? No, no, no, my dear. Listen closely to me."

It slithered through the garden until it met the bride.
It hissed at her attractive words, "Did you not know? God lied."

Her hand covered her mouth as she considered God's secret.
Her eyes narrowed thin as she accused, "How dare He keep it?"

Her hand reached forward to pluck that restricted fruit.
The serpent hissed in approval as he thought her look of betrayal so cute.

Her teeth met the skin and drove in drawing out the sweetness within.
Eternity closed its eyes as it saw majesty die while juice trickled down her chin.

It dropped down and hit the ground and a sound from the future was heard.
The blood of the Son hitting the mountain to redeem all who were lured.

Then, the bride took the fruit and gave it to her husband to eat.
"Look," she beckoned, "God, He lied! Taste it. Taste the truth of His deceit."

Realizing there was a mysterious look blazing in her eye, he lustfully took a bite.
Instantly, his face flooded with red as he was naked in her sight.

He ran behind a tree to hide as the snake inwardly took pleasure.
"Now, they are mine. Slaves to sin forever and ever and ever."

God flashed forward and saw His Son on the cross as a mocked token.
He knew in that moment that the covenant had been broken.

The serpent had come and deceived the bride into betrayal.
But even in the moment of the woman's first bite, Heaven had already pictured a new portrayal.

They saw the skin of the Son being ripped by the enemy's teeth.
They saw His blood spill forth as He died, getting no relief.

They saw Him stripped naked in front of all for humiliation.
They saw The God of Ages become of no reputation.

They saw Him reverse time back to the very first bite.
But this time, He bit the serpent with all of His might.

When He resurrected and overcame the cross
He wiped away the moment she bit the fruit, the serpent's victory was forever lost.

Now, there's a new Bride and we won't be deceived.
Now, there's a new Groom and He won't leave us in need.

The serpent still comes and tries to tempt us with the forbidden and restricted.
But we have seen this story before so from our lives, you're evicted.

Slither back down to the dark pit in hell.
Because the story of this Bride is one you don't want to have to tell.

If you did, your wretched tongue would have to tell of faithfulness and purity.
If you did, you would tell of salvation's truth with surety.

This is a Bride "that hath made herself ready" and shines like the dawn.
The covenant has been restored. Serpent, move on.

Anchor My Soul

The world is full of crashing waves.
Each wave unmerciful as it builds then caves.

The winds come and upset the sea.
It wants to see how weak and human we can be.

Currents come to pull us away.
With all of their might, they hope we will stray.

It often turns violent as it thrashes toward us.
After all, when we stand so strong, who can ignore us?

Many drift as they are pulled in.
Will we too be overcome with the movement of sin?

Oh, no! On the contrary.
We have a hope that is beyond ordinary.

Yeah, the waves crash and the winds roar.
But we are unmoved because of our hope, an anchor.

An anchor dug deep into the foundation of Power.
An anchor so strong that even the most intimidating waves cower.

This anchor is secure, a firm weight for our souls.
We cannot be plucked up no matter how set evil is in its goals.

We cannot be pushed and we cannot be beat.
This anchor pulls every threatening wave down and places it beneath our feet.

We won't be tossed to and from with the rocking of the sea.
We will rise above the waters as an example of our King.

So crash and roar all the more!
Just remember, who has ever had victory over our Anchor?

And for those steadfast, what's in store?!
The kingdom of Heaven, which is on the shore!

The Grave Was But For A Moment

The Grave Was But For A Moment

They laid His beaten and bloody body down.
The sky turned black as the universe frowned.

They left Him laying in a pitiful display.
They could not believe He said, "I am King" knowing it was His judgement day.

He could have backed down and denied His position.
Instead, he declared royalty untainted by opposition.

So, they murdered Him and put Him with the dead.
It was simply a moment in time to complete what the prophecies said.

They rolled the stone and closed His tomb.
This was His purpose from the moment He was formed in the womb.

He was meant to die. The ultimate call.
To go to hell and back and redeem us all.

And to hell He did go as they all thought him dead.
He was simply getting a pair of keys. Imagine hell's dread!

The ground began to shake and saints of old awoke from their sleep.
God the Father, His promise He did keep.

Voices could be heard saying, "He is not here!"
He was alive! Out of the grave! Was it not clear?

The darkness of death ran in terror as it realized His power.
He had overcome it and its sting in that very hour!

How can one stand against He who over threw the grave?!
How can one defeat He who can save?

The grave was but for a moment.
He went inside, resurrected and now owns it.

Isn't it evident?! You are no longer death's slave.
You too have overcome the grave!
